Six Acres/Calves Leaze/The Green
Six Acres/Calves Leaze/The Green
The name of the fields according to Steyning's 1840 tithe map that have been merged along with TQ1913 : Calves Leaze Lag to the south west and TQ1913 : Scotland Field to the north. The structure on the left is I think a World War Two gun emplacement designed to be able to operate both to the north where it could have covered Streatham Bridge and the south overlooking the River Adur flood plain. It was originally built in the hedgerow that divided claves Leaze from Scotland Field. Truleigh Hill can be seen in the distance.
