Cliffs between Trimingham and Sidestrand
A complex mix of glacial and proglacial deposits make up the cliffs but the high clay and sand content mean they are prone to erosion from below and a wide range of mass movement processes. Here sediment laden flows have deposited an alluvial fan within the undercliff. The initial landslides further up break up the sediment, making it prone to further erosion and debris flows which in turn move material downslope and increase the chances of further slips above, with the sea removing material at the bottom.
