These houses faced Lower Shibden Hall, which has completely disappeared. A local authority boundary runs along the path, so the houses are in Queensbury, now part of Bradford, and the Hall was in Northowram, now part of Calderdale. Northowram included the whole of Shibden Vale until 1894, when Queensbury Urban District was formed. This path was the access track to the settlement.
