Grade II Listed public house with a late 19th century fašade to an earlier coaching inn of 1710. The 1901 census lists John C Prince as the Licensee but from 1911 to 1925 John Thomas Colwell is listed as Hotel Proprietor and by 1941 Sidney Mugglestone. In the late 19th century Ashbourne was served by no fewer than 42 pubs or inns.
