Under wraps for the new buses
The old Ashton Avenue transporter bridge is currently closed for major repairs. The bridge, dating from 1906, carried both road and rail traffic until closure in 1980. The terrible decay will need considerable efforts to remedy before it carries the new Metrobus. The old tobacco bond is in the background.
