Bridge of Orchy
Spans the River Orchy.
Built around 1750 to the design of Major William Caulfield, who took over road construction from General Wade, in the Highlands. It is probably the most pleasing of bridges on the whole length of the Military Road, and still performs an important function of transporting walkers along the West Highland Way across the River Orchy.
Also takes the road to Inveroran - shown in yellow on modern maps though until 1990 it was the A8005, the grand title a relic from the days when it was the main route over Rannoch Moor to Glencoe and Fort William before the present A82 was completed in 1933.
