SP7401 : Chinnor post mill - the main support

taken 10 years ago, near to Chinnor, Oxfordshire, England

Chinnor post mill - the main support
Chinnor post mill - the main support
This reconstructed mill is a rare '6-legged' example with 6 brick supports. The massive main wooden post is visible centrally (hence post mill). There are 6 diagonal posts supporting this and there are three horizontal beams tying together opposite pairs. There is a wooden ring with a metal bearing surface that carries part of the weight of the buck and this is seen at the top with support from dark curved wooden posts.
