Path through St Botolph Bishopsgate churchyard
Perched on the right side of the metal arch over the path is a jay, here in the heart of the city. Admittedly the churchyard is that of St Botolph without Bishopsgate - that is, it lies just outside the walls of the medieval city - but nonetheless this area has probably not been even semi-rural since the early Middle Ages, and meeting a jay here on a weekday morning was a surprise.
