Bury open-air market has operated since 1444. In its publicity, the market refers to itself as 'World Famous'. It is operates on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and attracts large numbers of visitors, many of whom travel on coaches from miles around. The market is particularly famed for its black pudding stalls (none of which can be seen in this photograph).
