The Wind Vane, Lindisfarne Castle
The Wind Vane, Lindisfarne Castle
In the entrance hall to Lindisfarne Castle there is an elaborate wind vane on top of a painting depicting the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. The picture was painted in 1912 and the indicator is driven by a series of rods and cogs from a wind vane on the roof. For a view from the gun platform refer to picture NU1241 : Lindisfarne Village from the Castle.
