Lindisfarne Priory ruins
The first monastery at Lindisfarne was established in about 634 by Saint Aidan. It was here that the Lindisfarne Gospels were created. The ruins are of the Priory which replaced the sacked monastery. For the statue of St Aidan refer to picture NU1241 : Statue of St Aidan, Lindisfarne.
