Adamason's Industrial Estate
Adamason's Industrial Estate
Adamson's Mills on the Peak Forest Canal. Compare with Dr Neil Clifton's photograph from 1981 SJ9494 : Adamson's Mill, Peak Forest Canal, Hyde, Cheshire - the big chimney has gone but the mills themselves are still in use.

The firm of Joseph Adamson was established in 1874 by Joseph Adamson in partnership with Harry Booth, who retired in 1887. Adamson's two sons were then taken into partnership in 1902. The business was carried on by the sons after Adamson's death in 1920 until 1925, when the partnership was dissolved leaving the eldest son, Daniel, as sole proprietor of the business, assisted by his two sons, G.H.Adamson and J.Adamson.

Accessed from Croft Street, the Adamson Industrial Estate LinkExternal link houses a number of small businesses and also has a wharf and hard-standing area on the other side of the canal.

Since 2008 SJ9494 : Adamson's Mills the towpath has seen considerable improvement.
