HT9637 : The church on Foula

The slopes of Hamnafield are beyond.

I was booked to spend the day on Foula, but the morning flight was delayed (see HU4145 : Flight DFL003 ready to depart) and passengers were warned that, though we could fly that morning, there was a significant risk that the afternoon flight would be cancelled, thus leaving us stranded. As I was soon due to leave Shetland, I could not take that risk. In the end the afternoon flight did go: I took it, hopped out of the plane for ten minutes to get a couple of photos (the other being HT9737 : Foula from the north end of the airstrip), and flew straight back! It was, I admit, a rather expensive joyride for a couple of squares (and, more significantly, Myriad HT), but I reasoned that it was a lot cheaper than coming back from Bristol the following year would be.
