Summertime Midnight Light over Newcastle
A band of light in the northerly sky at 00:00 in Newcastle upon Tyne on 1st July 2006, viewed from Cow Hill on the Town Moor. One hour before the darkest hour of the night at 01:00 (British Summertime, BST). Newcastle is 55 degrees north, and during the weeks around mid-summer, the sky doesn't get properly dark at night.
