The Hoppings funfair is an annual event which takes place during the 3rd week of June each year and runs across 9 days.
The event, which is held on Newcastle's Town Moor, attracts a large number of rides and attractions and is reputedly Europe's largest travelling funfair.
Attractions range from the latest travelling thrill rides, traditional rides such as a helter skelter and carousel, traditional side stalls including "hook-a-duck" and seemingly countless stalls selling hotdogs, burgers, candy Floss and drinks to the public.
The event started in 1882 as a replacement for a horse racing event which had relocated from the moor to a new venue nearby and has continued as a significant local event almost every year since.
