Well-known for being the remotest church in Kent, the road to Harty Church has actually been recently improved. As John Newman in the Pevsner volumes on Kent describes it: "From the north it looks suitably battened down, the big tiled roof sloping down so far that there is no room for windows in the low wall. The weekend of 2nd and 3rd July 2016 was the occasion of the Flower and Crafts Festival when the church was blessed with two days of fine weather. This was Scottish dancing on the Sunday.
