SH7013 : Moraines below Llyn y Gadair

taken 8 years ago, 4 km NW of Minffordd, Gwynedd, Wales

Moraines below Llyn y Gadair
Moraines below Llyn y Gadair
Extensive and complex moraines form a linear chain of hummocks and ridges to the north and west of Lyn y Gadair. These are interpreted to represent the recession and re-advance of a small, local glacier originating within the magnificent cwm whose progress was deflected by ice flowing from the north-east. The distant horizon shows the Lleyn Peninsula and Bardsey Island.
