SH7013 : Cyfrwy screes

taken 3 years ago, 4 km from Minffordd, Gwynedd, Great Britain

Cyfrwy screes
Cyfrwy screes
Extensive screes mantle the northern face of Cyfrwy, formed during periglacial conditions of intense cold but without a mantle of ice. Frost-shattered debris accumulates in-situ, rather than being transported away by a glacier. In the foreground are moraines from the somewhat earlier cwm glacier.
