Ryme Intrinseca: parish church of St. Hippolyte
Jo Draper, in her excellent Dorset: The Complete Guide, opens her entry for this village: "RYME INTRINSECA must have the oddest name in Dorset, which is saying a lot, considering the competition." One cannot easily argue with that assertion. Not only has it an unusual name, but its church possesses an unusual dedication – one of only two English churches dedicated to St. Hippolyte. It is mainly 13th century with a 17th-century tower.
