SK1180 : Eldon Hole

taken 10 years ago, near to Peak Forest, Derbyshire, England

This is 1 of 6 images, with title Eldon Hole in this square
Eldon Hole
Eldon Hole
Pothole on the high slopes of Eldon Hill, the hole is now about 60m deep; it would be deeper but for the unfortunate habit of people testing the depth with rocks. Many potholers have made the dangerous descent into this black abyss despite the legends of dead bodies being tossed into the depths.
