J3778 : Barren Land at edge of Belfast

taken 17 years ago, 3 km from Holywood, Co Down, Northern Ireland

Barren Land at edge of Belfast
Barren Land at edge of Belfast
Most of the land on square J3778 is barren. The jetty at the end is 'Sludge Steamer Jetty', unused for many years. Sludge (sewage) was piped onto boats here for (I think) disposal at sea.

There are plans to extend the land north to create new berths for shipping in the next few years.
