Peterborough's bridges [6]
Peterborough's bridges [6]
Two bridges sit side by side carrying the railway (East Coast Main Line) over the River Nene. The steel girder bridge nearer the camera was erected in 1924 to double the capacity of the line. The bridge further from the camera was erected in 1850 and is believed to be the last cast iron bridge on a major high speed route. See TL1998 : Peterborough's bridges [5]. The bridge is listed, grade II*, with details at: LinkExternal link
