All Saints, Elland: war memorial
All Saints, Elland: war memorial
A wooden memorial, to the "worshippers at this church" who gave their lives in both world wars (rather than to all the victims from the parish, because All Saints did not have its own parish until more recently)
All Saints church, Elland
Built from 1896-1903 by renowned church architect George Fellowes Prynne, who worked mainly in south-west England and London, this Anglican church is said to be one of only two to his designs in the North (the other being St Paul, Morley). It was later extended to the west with a baptistery. Originally a daughter church of St Mary the Virgin Elland, it now has its own parish. The building is listed grade 2* (list entry 1133954).
