This shows the TR2043 : Storm-damaged tree in garden of Winterdown Cottage just after the damage had taken place. It was caused by ‘Storm Eva’ and eventually the branch of this crack willow (Salix fragilis) parted from the trunk and came to land on the lawn beneath on 30 January 2016. It has lost about four other branches since 1999. I am now leaving the wood of the branch to dry out (probably several years) until I can use my bow-saw to cut it into pieces, as I do not own a chain saw. Crack willows’ green wood contains a lot of water, which makes cutting it up difficult, as a bow-saw’s blade can get stuck during the process.
