Horniman Museum, London Road, Forest Hill
Horniman Museum, London Road, Forest Hill
Frederick John Horniman opened his house as the Surrey House Museum in 1890 and the gardens were opened to the public in 1895. That museum was closed and demolished in 1898 and the new museum was built on the site. It opened in 1901 and is a Grade II* listed building. A beautiful bed of agapanthus blooms is on the right with London Road on the other side of the railings.
