SE2937 : The Revolution Well, Leeds

taken 8 years ago, near to Chapel Allerton, Leeds, England

The Revolution Well, Leeds
The Revolution Well, Leeds
Standing in a small enclosure on the junction of Stonegate Road and Parkland Crescent, this odd structure is the cover of a wellhead erected by Joseph Oates of Carr Manor House in 1788 "to commemorate the centenary of the landing of William of Orange" and therefore called the Revolution Well. It is not on the original site of the well, which was somewhere close by. See also SE2937 : Revolution Well, Meanwood. It is grade 2 listed (list entry 1255968).
