Buddon Ness High Lighthouse
Buddon Ness High Lighthouse
Buddon Ness High Light is one of two lighthouses built in 1866 at the southern tip of the Barry Links, marking the entrance to the Firth of Tay. The other (Buddon Ness Low) is approximately ½ mile to the east. The High Light is a round, brick and stone tower with lantern and gallery. It stands approximately 90 feet high. Like the Low Lighthouse, Buddon Ness High Lighthouse is a Grade B listed building (LB4634 LinkExternal link Historic Scotland).

Both lighthouses were eventually abandoned in 1943 and today the Sands are marked only by a small beacon and buoys mark the channels offshore. Long used for military training, the area is closed to the public (LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) The Lighthouse Directory).
