Orford Street and the Edinburgh Public House
Orford Street and the Edinburgh Public House
Orford Street and the Edinburgh public house on the corner of the most attractive street in Wavertree. The laying-out of Orford Street was the idea of local surgeon James Kenyon, whose High Street residence backed on to farmland which he purchased. His wife Ann was the daughter of wealthy merchant, William Orford of Everton. The terraces of houses were built between 1848-1852 before Wavertree Village was swallowed up in Liverpool's urban sprawl.
