If wet, in church (III)
St Peter's Church Fête is usually held in the churchyard in balmy sunshine. In Victorian times all the gravestones were taken up and used to form a border around its edge, leaving a smooth grassy area where events can take place Link. However, today rain stopped play and it was held inside. My mother feels this is somehow an unsuitable use of the church. I pointed out that in mediaeval times all sorts of secular business went on in the nave with the chancel reserved for the priest. Her retort "Who was it who drove the moneychangers from the temple?" Moral: never argue with your mum!
