NS3178 : Anticline at Ardmore Point

taken 3 years ago, near to Ardmore, Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

Anticline at Ardmore Point
Anticline at Ardmore Point
The same geological feature is shown in NS3178 : Anticline at Ardmore Point. The inclination of the rocks at the left and right is not a perspective effect (compare NS3178 : Anticline at Ardmore Point); the rock strata were folded into an arch-like curve. The central portion has been eroded away, but the sloping strata to either side remain.

In the present view, a large vessel can be seen on the far side of the Clyde, berthed at Greenock. It is the Fantasia-class cruise ship MSC Splendida.
