SW7927 : August Rock

August Rock
August Rock
Approaching the mouth of the Helford River we passed this buoy and reef to starboard. The skipper said there was a passage between the rocks and the shore but very wisely gave it a wide berth.

Coastal cruising is not without its risks - PS Waverley went aground on the Gantocks in 1977 and was a whisker from being a total constructive loss and Prince Ivanhoe was lost off the South Wales Coast in the early 1980s.
