Former Whitworth Baths
Former Whitworth Baths
Whitworth Baths on Ashton Old Road in Openshaw, were built in 1890 and designed by Manchester architect J. W. Beaumont in honour of celebrated philanthropist and engineer Sir Joseph Whitworth. I've been unable to find out when they closed but they were already semi-derelict in 2009 when the inside were photographed by urban explorers LinkExternal link A petition to save the building in 2010 LinkExternal link secured less than 300 signatures. Some old photos can be found on Andrew Simpsons blog at LinkExternal link
