Bomb crater near Loch Thom
The same crater is shown, viewed in almost the opposite direction, in NS2673 : Bomb crater near Loch Thom. As noted there, it is one of three in a line running WNW-ESE.
Bomb craters above Greenock
The Greenock Blitz was in May 1941: NS2676 : Memorial for those killed in the Greenock air raids. Some of the bomb craters on the moors above the town are the result of several decoy fires that were deployed here during the Second World War; see LinkExternal link (at Secret Scotland) for details. The control bunker for one of those decoy sites (NS2773 : Whitelees Moor - Bombing Decoy Control Bunker) can be seen at NS27567342, and there were other decoys on these moors.
