The north range dates from 1683-90. "Here now a proper Wren style appears indeed," wrote Nikolaus Pevsner. "The range was in all probability designed (and not only built) by Robert Grumbold, who was paid 'for drawing a designe of ye building' in 1683. In the middle of the range is the entrance to the Hall, and above it a handsome cupola."
