The changing face of Ashton Market
The changing face of Ashton Market

On the left is the entrance to the Arcades Shopping Centre. On the right is the former Town Hall now the Museum of the Manchesters. The old market stalls in front with their colourful roofs are going as part of the reconstruction of the area. Behind them is the last remaining facade of the former council offices, only built in the 1980s but now considered expendable. The face of a forlorn lion awaits its fate.
