Barkip Biogas Power Station
An anaerobic digestion plant, the largest combined organic waste treatment and energy generating facility in Scotland. It is operated by SSE, and can process <75,000 t/yr of organic and food waste, and produce 2.2MW of electricity from the methane rich biogas produced which is burnt in gas engines to generate electricity. As well as power a low cost fertiliser is a by-product. Link
