The Chariot Mine and the Chariot Way
The Chariot Mine and the Chariot Way
The Chariot Mine was a lead mine which operated between about 1700 and 1900. The name Chariot comes from the Chariot Way, an ancient trackway now known as the Portway, which runs past the mine. The site also used to be covered by a coniferous woodland called Chariot Wood. The turbine in the background is part of Carsington Pasture Wind Farm.
