taken 10 years ago, near to Ravenglass, Cumbria, England

Ravenglass village sits on the natural harbour of the River Esk estuary. It was founded by the Romans in AD79. Today Ravenglass is home to two of Cumbria’s best attractions – the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and nearby Muncaster Castle with its famous gardens and World Owl Centre. As well as an inn, two hotels and a number of guesthouses in the Parish, there’s a caravan park and campsite, a craft shop, post office and mainline railway.
The River Irt flows from the southern end of Wastwater and follows a generally south western path till it meets the River Esk and River Mite at Ravenglass.
The River Mite rises below the summit of Illgill Head and flows through Mitredale to its confluence with the River Esk and River Irt at Ravenglass. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway follows its lower course.
The River Esk rises on the Scafell range near Esk Hause, flows south then west to its mouth at Ravenglass.
