Kidwelly Castle, Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire
Kidwelly Castle, Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire
This formidable gatehouse leads into a most impressive castle. Built by the Normans as protection from the Welsh, it has been taken and re-taken many times up to the beginning of the 15th century. This gatehouse was extensively damaged in its last skirmish and was rebuilt on the orders of King Henry the fifth. Kidwelly Castle was used as one of the locations of the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
