The Grape's Pub
The Grape's Pub
This is the former Kings Arms Public House on Front Street West, Bedlington, still a bar but renamed The Grapes. Built as a town house it was to become where Sir Daniel Gooch the Great Cable Laying and Railway Engineer and Member of Parliament lived during his childhood.

Gooch was Isambard Kingdom Brunel's chief engineer and became Chairman of the Great Western Railway for over 30 years. He was also involved in the laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable.
