Waterworks River and London Aquatics Centre
Waterworks River is an artificial channel, cut for the Stratford Waterworks (later purchased by the East London Waterworks Company) in 1743, from the Old River Lee channel (above Old Ford Lock), to supply a reservoir at Saynes Mill, Stratford. It was widened to 100 feet (30.5 m) in the 1930s, as part of a project to prevent flooding in Stratford.

The river is one of the Bow Back Rivers (LinkExternal link Canal & Rivers Trust) that flow into the Bow Creek part of the River Lea, which in turn flows into the River Thames.

The London Aquatics Centre, beyond the bridge, is an indoor facility with two 50-metre swimming pools and a 25-metre (82-foot) diving pool in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It was completed in 2011 and was one of the main venues of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Paralympics. The centre was used for the swimming, diving and synchronised swimming events. After significant modification the centre opened to the public in March 2014.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
The park was built as part of the venue for the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was further developed over a number of years after the games.

Three significant buildings used during the games can be found in the park, including the Olympic stadium, Aquatics Centre, and Velodrome, as well as The ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture.

The River Lea also runs through the site.
