TG5304 : Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour

taken 8 years ago, near to South Denes, Norfolk, England

Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour
Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour
The harbour is home to jack-up barges used in the offshore windfarm business. One of the barges is seen here from South Beach Parade.

Construction work on the Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour, a deep-water harbour on the North Sea, began in June 2007 and was completed by 2009. Originally there were plans for a ro-ro ferry link with IJmuiden which has failed to materialise. Similarly, despite the installation of two large cranes in 2009, and since removed, plans for a container terminal have also been scrapped.
