Situated a few miles East of Belfast, the parliament buildings at Stormont were opened on the Wednesday 16th November 1932 by Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). It has six columns and six floors to signify the six counties of Northern Ireland and is 365 feet wide to indicate the number of days in a year. The buildings now house the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly and tours take place inside them on Monday to Fridays during daytime hours. A bus service runs from Belfast city centre to the parliament buildings during the daytime on Mondays to Fridays.
