Fowlmere: St Mary's Church in winter
Fowlmere: St Mary's Church in winter
"A sizeable cruciform church ... much restored in 1869" (Nikolaus Pevsner). Unusually there is no south aisle. Towers with lead-covered Hertfordshire spikes are standard issue in this part of Cambridgeshire (see, for instance, Thriplow and Haslingfield). Low sunlight emphasised the colours of the flint and field-stone walls on a fine Sunday morning in December.
