Blighted wood
Blighted wood
This thin woodland, planted to shield the Whisky Bond Warehouse complex, is 'blighted' by the fungus Baudoinia Compniacensis - see LinkExternal link. The fungus thrives (only?) in ethanol rich (Angel's Share) environments and here, just in the lee of the huge warehouses, the sooty and granular fungus has blackened the trees. Further away, in the nearby housing estate, the fungus is beginning to take hold on the building's fabric, but is most noticeable on the amenity trees. The Bonded Warehouses (owned by drinks giant Diageo) can just be seen in the picture. See LinkExternal link
