Bowring Park
Bowring Park
Set in the original grounds of Roby Hall (built 1761, demolished 1957) Bowring Park was given "to the people for all time" by Alderman William Benjamin Bowring after the Open Spaces Act was agreed in 1906. It is the oldest public park in Knowsley and in 1913 the first municipal golf course in England was set up within the grounds. In 1972 the park was splintered into many sections during the construction of the M62, junction 5 roundabout and approach roads.
