St Mary, Nantwich: high altar kneelers
These kneelers at the communion rail were embroidered for the Queen's diamond jubilee in 2002, and the text along the front reads "Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which was given for you" (words from the Book of Common Prayer). The mosaic floor of the chancel was made for Queen Victoria's jubilee, thus the tradition was being continued.
Church of St Mary, Nantwich

The parish church of St Mary, with its unusual octagonal tower, is one of the best known in Cheshire. The walls, and some of the woodwork in the choir, date mainly from the 15th century; the nave fittings are mainly 19th century by George Gilbert Scott (or his firm) and most of the stained glass is 19th or 20th century. It is Grade 1 listed (list entry 1206059).

The church follows the evangelical style of Anglicanism and I was impressed to be told by the volunteer guide that it has a congregation of over 500.

Most of the detailed notes in the photos in this collection are from the official publication "A guided walk around St Mary's Nantwich" (Rick Appleton, 2013) - available from the church, price £1.
