Jenny's Cove grotto 1 - Lee Abbey, North Devon
Jenny's Cove grotto 1 - Lee Abbey, North Devon
In this secluded part of the Lee Abbey Estate seemingly rather far from the main cluster of buildings, but easily reachable by a level path, is this grotto providing seating and shelter from sun, wind and rain. A place to sit for quiet contemplation or outside leaning on the viewpoint railings, taking in the seascape with thoughts of the young woman, Jenny or Jennefried, who met her tragic end here after being jilted on her wedding day and who gave her name to this spot, the inaccessible Jenny's Cove. Time photo taken 5.23 pm BST (British Summer Time).
