Fishing boats at Beer
Fishing boats at Beer
The main sources of income for the village of beer include tourism and fishing. As there is no harbour fishing boats are winched up the beach. Originally done by hand with the aid of a manual capstan, this is now done by electrically driven winches using steel cables or tractors are located on the beach. You can see the cables in this photograph.

The pebble beach is very steep and difficult to walk on so long rubber recycled conveyor belts are laid down to assist walkers. One is visible here, running down between the red and black boats.
