taken 4 years ago, 3 km from Durisdeermill, Dumfries And Galloway, Great Britain

Path towards the Enterkin Pass
This rutted track follows what was once a major route through the hills from Dumfries to Glasgow, and a little further on into the narrow section between hills there was an incident in the year 1684 where government troops transporting captured Covenanters to Edinburgh were ambushed by a rescue party, with fatal consequences for a soldier named Keltie. This incident gave rise to the name Keltie's Linn for the lower section of the pass.
From left, the surrounding hills are Thirstane Bank, Lowther Hill (with radar dome on its summit) and Steygail.
